The Queensboro Bridge Western Underside Vault Space Restoration Retrospective

Location: Andromeda Auditorium

On November 12, Skyline Restoration hosted two distinguished professionals who brought presentations of their own experiences working with Guastavino Vaults to a diverse group of restoration industry professionals. Each presenter told the attendees about their specific learning curve with the “Cohesive Construction” Guastavino Method as they addressed the problems each vault space exhibited and how they became better acquainted with the issues of these vaults as they fit into the architecture of the two historic structures.

Mr. Mike Lopez, RA, AIA, Director of Technical Services with Rimkus and Mr. Charles DiSanto, RA, formerly Managing Partner with Walter Melvin Architects and current Delaware Valley Chapter President of APT, each brought their project specific stories of how they gained practical knowledge while undertaking the challenges of Guastavino vault repairs. Video recordings of each presentation can be accessed below.

Skyline Restoration is very pleased to be able to host informative industry relevant presentations like Guastavino Day as part of our continuing series of “Breakfast and Learn” events in the Andromeda Auditorium each calendar quarter. These events provide those who attend the opportunity to learn the practical details of the masonry restoration industry from their professional peers and provide and encourage a dialog with the presenters about topics relevant to their own experience stemming from projects of their own.
