As of January 1, 2022, property owners who fail to file an acceptable report certifying sprinklers were installed in their building, as required by Local Law 26 of 2004, will be subject to the civil penalties starting at $5,000.
In addition to the penalty for failure to file, $1,000 per month, beginning February 1, 2022, and ending on the filing date of an acceptable report.
The Department will dismiss any violation for failure to file the sprinkler report when an acceptable report has been submitted and stamped "Approved" by DOB and proof of payment of the civil penalty is received.
